Good morning and/or afternoon.

There was a cold wind in the air today. A telltale sign of what is to come. Still luck is on our side, we managed another full week of sunshine so I’m marking this one down as a win. We’re ramping down on Summer and we’re now full go for autumn plantings.

I have some good news for everybody. The time has finally arrived for fall mums to start flowering. Millions of buds have formed and they are about to pop. All plants from 4″, 1gallon, and especially 7″ are loaded with buds with first color cracking. If you’re looking for a colorful display that says Autumn is here, now is the time. Like living bouquets, nothing quite puts you in the spirit like fall mums on the doorstep. I like mums by the front door and the back, on the ledge and in my planters. A few by the garage, and some down the walkway. Sometimes when I’m feeling like getting really crazy I jazz in a few asters and some fresh pansies and violas and the place lights up like magic. 

It’s nearly sweater weather, get planting while the sun is shining.
