Jan 29th 2024 ~~ C & C Availability
Hello, and Good day.
Thank goodness for the warm temperatures this week. That’s more like it! We’re busy at it, ramping up, and getting very excited for the upcoming garden season. The first snowdrops have popped up in the garden and with the bad weather behind us, we can commence gardening once again. Winter days can be a bit bland and gray but it’s amazing the joy and optimism a few colorful planters can create.
This week has some really beautiful plants coming along. Sirococco Primulas double ruffled and silver lined. They are so pretty and don’t even look real; I love them. Mix in a few electric Primlettes, some potted bulbs, cyclamen, and violas and things get even more interesting. Hellebores are blooming like crazy right now, red and white shades, big and bountiful. I’m ready for this and I hope you are too.
Are you having a hard time getting inspired for your first 2024 plant display? Set up a walkaround shopping spree with Nat. I’ll show you the nice stuff and set you up for success. Just give us a call to arrange an appointment.
Stay warm this week & thanks.

Useful tip for winter container gardening. Utilize the microclimates on your property. Primulas and cyclamen are quite cold-resistant and will look good all winter long if positioned in a sheltered spot with minimal water exposure, just hand watering below the foliage. Allow to sit on the dry side, not sopping wet, water only when dry. Placing it near your front door under an eve is ideal. During cold weekends of minus -5C to -10C bring your containers in the for a few days or place a heavy sheet over the plants for the cold spell. These plants are very tough but not invincible. We’re lucky to live in such a mild climate. Push the limits and have fun.
